Battery Test Chamber
The Battery Test Chambers by North American Envirosystems are engineered for high safety, reliability, and full compliance with international standards for battery testing (including EUCAR Hazard Levels 0-7, IEC, SAE, UL, and UN/DOT standards).
Standard Safety Equipment
- Non-Sparking Fan: Spark-resistant aluminum fan or impeller with a casing complying with non-sparking blower standards.
- Sheathed Air Heaters: Stainless steel sheathed heaters in the air plenum with no direct radiation or contact with the test space.
- Magnetic Door Lock: Automatically activated during testing.
Optional Safety Accessories (Hazard Level Specific)
- Nitrogen Purge System (Recommended for Hazard Levels 4-6): Purges nitrogen into the test space to maintain oxygen levels according to set values.
- Burst Disc (Recommended for Hazard Levels 4-7): Rectangular ceiling-mounted disc that bursts to rapidly release large gas volumes during severe battery damage.
- Gas Monitoring System (Recommended for Hazard Levels 5-7): Electrochemical and gas sensors monitoring CO, H2, and O2 with automated system alarm popups
- H2 Sensor: Range 0-100 %LEL (Min: 15 %LEL, Max: 25 %LEL)
- Chain Door Lock (Recommended for Hazard Levels 5-7): Stainless steel chain-linked lock to prevent accidental door opening.
- Port Plug Restraint (Recommended for Hazard Levels 5-7): Keeps the port hole plug firmly in place during accidental explosions.
- Fire Suppression System (Water Mist / Liquid CO2) (Recommended for Hazard Levels 5-7): Triggered by an independent Pt-100 temperature sensor or automated gas monitoring system.
- Hardware Ports: Up to 3 Ethernet ports (network separation), 2 USB ports, 1 Serial port (RS-232/485/422), SD card slot, and 2 expansion slots.
- JMobile Remote Diagnostics: Mobile monitoring, remote start/stop control, access-level management, and VNC/Web client integration.
Battery Test Standards Compliance
- EUCAR Hazard Severity Levels:
- Level 0 (No Effect): No loss of functionality.
- Level 2 (Defect/Damage): No leakage, venting, fire, or explosion; irreversible damage.
- Level 4 (Major Leakage / Venting): Weight loss >= 50% of electrolyte.
- Level 6 (Rupture): Flying parts of active mass.
